1. Had a really enriching field trip to Ubin on Saturday. So proud of myself for spotting a couple of Common Flamebacks amongst the trees. Birdwatching is actually fun when you have a pair of binoculars. lol.

2. Submitted a really lousy and lame 2-page essay on "Why I want to study ecology".

3. Starting to lose focus after the e-learning week. Momentum broken.

4. Face getting fatter. Shits.

5. When is the Powershot S90 coming?!

6. Failed attempt at making macarons today. I think there was not enough egg white; and might be due to me skipping the almond powder blending step(coz i couldn't find the cover of the blender - -"), resulting in clumps in the batter. The sadness..

7. Family Outing is seriously super-funny. It's taking up my studying time for FORENSIC SCIENCE CA!

Went for a field trip yesterday evening to Labrador Nature Reserve to examine the type of fauna found on the rocky shore habitat, the only stretch left in Singapore. The date and timing was chosen to coincide with one of the lowest tides of the month, so that almost the whole length of the rocky shore would be exposed for us to explore. My sub-group was delegated to search for fauna in the zone which is nearest to the sea. At first, the shallow pools of water seemed devoid of life other than the usual diversity of algae; but upon closer scrutiny, I was rather amazed by the diversity of fauna that was hiding amongst the cover of the rocks and algae. Gobies trying to blend in with the background, hairy crabs hiding in the crevices, tons of hermit crabs, as well as the relentless "tock tock tock" sound made by snapping shrimps, almost like they are challenging us to catch them. Though they were fast in retreating back into their burrows, we managed to catch one after a while. Other interesting catch include a scorpionfish, as well as a butterflyfish. As the sun began to set, the silhouette of Pasir Panjang Container Terminal with the orange-and-lilac sky in the background was a picture-perfect image, only that I did not have my camera with me on hand(was rather far from my bag, and it was rather risky to carry the camera with me ankle-deep in the water). The only photo I managed to take was the one above, when we were doing a show-and-tell of the stuff we caught from our zones.

Actually, I am still contemplating whether to specialise in Biology or not. Ah, it's a hard choice to make.

Feb 2008, Hakodate, Japan

Went for a short run this morning, after like, 5 mths? lol. It felt good, seriously.
I wonder how it feels to run in winter, with the cold and crisp wind against your face instead of the usual stagnant humid air.

Space. It's really important to us; we all desire personal spaces that we can find solace in, a place that truly belong to our own heart and mind. 5 million people(and more to come) cramped into this tiny island is no joke. I was reading up on Norway; their population size is about the same as us, but their land mass is about 550 times bigger than Singapore. There's a hell lot of dissatisfied folks here that want to get out but can't, and as days go by there's more and more people coming in instead. As a true-blue Singaporean I am prone to whining, but still, sigh.

There's someone singing at the top of his voice from the opposite block.
And he keeps singing the same song damn it.
Must be a reject from Singapore Idol or something.

Ok, right now I am having some withdrawal symptoms after finishing watching Buzzer Beat within 3 days. I really can't figure out why japanese dramas like this have such an impact on me even though the storyline could be quite predictable at times. Like you know what the next scene would probably be like, but when it happens you will still get this"awwwww~~, so sweet" feeling after it. I think its a combination of the language, actors/actresses (they seem so natural in all their scenes, even when crying) , and not forgetting the soundtrack, that makes it so perfect. Seriously, it's like I got totally drawn into their world when watching them, and for a moment I just want to forget reality and be lost in their emotions. Naoki and Riko's chemistry is just too good, it practically oozes sweetness.

Ah, just let me indulge in this for a while.. before reality pulls me back.
